BOSS spoke with Adam Ormrod, Operations Director at A4 Laser Labels Limited, to learn more about the company’s journey, recent growth, and future plans.

Q&A With Adam Ormrod, Operations Director at A4 Laser Labels

BOSS: Can you tell us a little about A4 Laser Labels and what the business does?

AO (Adam Ormrod): Certainly! A4 Laser Labels manufactures and prints a wide variety of self-adhesive labels. This includes both standard and custom labels in formats like sheet labels, on-roll labels, fanfold, and sprocket-fed labels. We offer a broad selection of face papers, liners, and adhesives to meet the specific needs of different sectors.

BOSS: When was the business established, and how did it all begin?

AO: The business, as it is today, was established following a management buyout on 26th March 2021. We acquired the company from a well-established label manufacturer and have since built on that strong foundation. We’re currently trading at £3.6 million and continuing to grow.

BOSS: How has the company evolved since that buyout?

AO: Since acquiring the business, we’ve made significant investments to drive growth. We’ve upgraded our machinery to boost production capacity and introduced new software to streamline our systems. In late 2021, we achieved ISO 9001-2015 certification, and by November 2024, we’ll be FSC certified. A major milestone came in August 2023, when we acquired the office stationery label segment from a well-known UK manufacturer, which doubled our turnover. We’re also planning to move to larger premises in early 2025, allowing us to expand further, with more acquisitions already in the pipeline.

BOSS: What achievements or specialisms is A4 Laser Labels particularly proud of?

AO: We’re incredibly proud of our reputation for delivering high-quality, competitively priced products. We source only the finest raw materials from FSC-accredited suppliers, which allows us to maintain a high standard while keeping costs competitive. Additionally, our fast turnaround times really set us apart from others in the market, which is something our customers value greatly.

BOSS: Why did A4 Laser Labels decide to join BOSS?

AO: BOSS came highly recommended to us by a large and reputable label manufacturer. They spoke very positively about the networking opportunities that BOSS offers, which aligns perfectly with our goals as we continue to grow and expand.

BOSS: What aspects of BOSS’s services are you most looking forward to making use of?

AO: The networking opportunities are what really stood out for us. The company that recommended BOSS to us benefited significantly from the BOSS networking community, and we’re excited to connect with other industry professionals, sharing knowledge and exploring potential collaborations.

BOSS: You mentioned you're moving to new premises in early 2025. Can you tell us more about this exciting development?

AO: Yes, that’s right! The move will provide us with the space and resources needed to continue expanding and growing. We’ll be sharing news and further information about the new premises and the benefits it will bring to A4 Laser Labels nearer the time, so watch this space!
