Leaders of the Future meet to provide the voice of the industry's millennials

Following a series of successful and well attended BOSS conferences aimed at the younger talent in the industry over the last few years, a group of "future leaders" has been formed to keep BOSS in touch with their aspirations and attitudes.

Following a series of successful and well attended BOSS conferences aimed at the younger talent in the industry over the last few years, a group of "future leaders" has been formed to keep BOSS in touch with their aspirations and attitudes.

Headed by Haley-mae Benton from Avery, who chaired the meeting, the team includes all the volunteers who stepped forward following the last BOSS Leaders of the Future conference to help guide the shape of future events and work collaboratively on key areas of importance to them.

The group had its first formal meeting last Friday at the BOSS/BPIF offices in London and quickly arrived at a priority list of areas they plan to focus on. These fall into four categories, networking, training and skills development, dealer engagement and communication, with attendees putting themselves forward to work in smaller groups on each of these areas.

"We got going quickly and decided smaller groups would be the most effective way to drive things forward", said Haley-mae. "And I'd like to thank everyone who came along for starting something great" she added.

The next meeting is scheduled for 14 December, when the group plan to carry on building on their agenda and plan also to pop in and visit some Old Friends that evening.

The group currently consists of:

  • Haley-mae Benton (Chair), Avery
  • Joshua Allsop, OPI
  • Emily Anten, Fellowes
  • Victoria Brecht, Avery
  • Ian Buckley, Prima
  • Steve Dennis, Prima
  • Callum Edwards, Prima
  • Aaron Hopkinson, Brother
  • Yasmin Ollive, EO Group
  • Paul Simpson, Renz
  • Richard Smithers, Spicers
  • Travis White, Wordflow
  • Scott Woodward, Nemo

If anyone is interested in joining the Leaders of the Future Forum, please get in touch with me at the usual address. And watch out for our LinkedIn page which will start to give more details of the plans and achievements of this newly formed group.

In other news, congratulations to Ian Buckley, MD of Prima: a shining example of how the Leaders of the Future are in fact leaders of the present, for winning Young Stationer of the Year at the Worshipful Company of Stationers and Newspaper Makers. And for recently becoming a father - well done on both counts Ian!
